Dragon & Maiden Bracelet, Sterling Silver Fantasy Jewelry, "The Quest Continues"
This piece of sterling silver fantasy jewelry, it is truly a unique, mystical and beautiful artisans bracelet entitled "The Quest Continues". This mystical dragon and maiden bracelet depicts an encounter with a trio of faeries that will guide them on the next step of the journey. The roots of the ancient tree where the faeries live wrap around three stones; a 8mm rainbow moonstone, 5mm black spinel and 6mm labradorite. Dangling from a root are three stone beads, one each of labradorite, moonstone and back onyx.
The dragon and maiden bracelet will be made to the length you specify, the bracelet shown in the photograph is 7 inches. The scenic focal point of the fantasy bracelet has an outer dimension of 3 inches wide by 1 1/2 inches tall. While this dragon bracelet features stones in shades of white, gray and black, I can set the fantasy bracelet with bright colored stones such as amethyst, citrine, garnet or others. As with all my work, this fantasy bracelet is created by the lost wax method. I start by creating a detailed pencil drawing to refine my idea and layout the design of the piece of fantasy jewelry. I then begin to sculpt everything in wax, first by addressing the overall composition, then proportion and musculature of the individual characters, lastly overlaying all of it with detailing. This was a very time and labor intensive process; including facial expressions, garment and applying the scales of the dragons one at a time. When sculpting is complete it is cast using the lost wax method in sterling silver. The bracelet is then assembled by soldering heavy gauge wire to combine the scenic portion with the clasp. A patina is applied in two parts to give some areas a darker finish than others, providing for contrast and interest. The stones are set, beads strung on a headpin then attached. This is followed by hand polishing and an application of Renaissance Wax to protect the finish and guard against tarnish.
