Alpaca Drawing "Quiet Diligence",
This detailed drawing portrays an alpaca peacefully keeping watch over the paddock and the rest of the animals on the farm and is part of the "Beyond the Fence" series. The drawing measures 16"x12", and took over 100 hours to complete. The original artwork is created using very fine mechanical pencils, .03 and .02 in size, gradually building up layers of graphite until the desired levels of darkness are met. My reference for the drawing are from my own photographs taken at a small farm a short distance from my home.
High quality, full size, Giclee Prints may be purchased with the edition limited to 50. The alpaca prints are made by giclee experts using the finest quality materials; including heavy, acid free paper, and archival ink with a wide boarder for matting and framing. Frame worthy notecards are also available printed on premium stock, 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" inches with matching envelope and packaged in a cellophane sleeve. The original drawing is also for sale, please send me a message if interested.
During the time of Covid I would make daily trips to the neighborhood farm, sometimes visiting several times in one day. I found it a sanctuary from the quarantine, the feelings of confinement, and the political rhetoric that surrounded the pandemic. I would visit with the animals, bring them treats and take lots of pictures. Until this point my primary subject matter has been that of mystical and fantasy topics, but the animals of the farm: alpaca, sheep, goats, horses, donkeys, pigs, calves, cats, chickens and more captured my heart to the point that I felt compelled to capture their images in my art. While the neighborhood farm initiated the series of farm animal prints, it has also inspired trips to other farms to collect more reference for my drawings.
The "Quiet Diligence" alpaca drawing was accepted as part of the Art Explosion exhibit in Grayling, Michigan.
This print is perfect for those who love nature, the country, farm animals or a rural life.
